Mrs. P's Technology Fundraiser

Welcome Parents and Guardians,

Thank you all for your support throughout the years. It is so important for your children to see your tireless efforts in helping to create a fantastic learning environment with remarkable enrichment activities. The Fall Fundraiser has been one of the most successful fun-filled fundraising events we have each year and it could not happen with out our fantastic community involvement. This year a large portion of the proceeds will be donated to each classroom to provide a multitude of technological devices to enhance your child's learning experience. As most of you know, this is a parent run endeavor and this year we are asking for your time. Information on how you can get involved will be sent home and through the school email system. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Technology can be a complicated topic. Many of us see our children get quickly attached to the entertainment aspect of it. As many of you know in this area, Silicon Valley, it is also a key to a myriad of employment possibilities and educational opportunities for our childrens' future. Just a few of the items that we are anticipating including in our classrooms are:

  • Smart Boards: this remarkable device is a large board with a touch screen which allows the teacher to demonstrate computer capabilities in a large format for all students to see. It is also an interactive device that the students may use in large group presentations. If you are interested in learning more, please look at this website:  http://www.techlearning.com/article/6106
  • Microphones: It not only saves the teachers voice but creates an atmosphere where keeping the students attention is far simpler. When the teacher turns to the board to write, the students attention remains on her voice because it is still at the same level. • Digital Cameras: Math and technology and even art go hand in hand. Setting up lessons on counting can be included in learning photography.  For more information on this topic and even ideas to use at home, please visit:  http://www.edzone.net/~mwestern/elemath.html
All of these websites can help demystify and demonstrate the practical educational applications for technology in our class.

Please know how much the entire teaching and administrative staff appreciate your time and effort in making our school the remarkable educational community it is. Your contributions are invaluable. Please feel free to use this blog to create a discussion about technology in the classroom, post questions or just express your opinions. You are your children's greatest teacher and I look forward to learning from you

Thank you!
Jennifer Penunuri
